A Holy Week Epiphany March 26, 2013

I hope you are all having a blessed Holy Week.

I was reading the following in Gary Zimak’s blog – “Following the Truth”.  His post was about “Taking the Passion Personally”. Here is the line that struck me:

“Once again, Pontius Pilate will get to show us his “Personally, I find nothing against this man, but you can do whatever you want” routine.”

I was bowled over – it was like I was hit with a ton of bricks.  Aren’t these the very same words that a lot of Pro-Choice “Catholics” and Pro-Choice “Catholic” politicians use?  “Abortion? Well hey, personally, I’m against it, but …….”

These people are not Catholics, they’re just present day versions of Pontius Pilate!

A new start after a long absence – I’ve adopted a cardinal! March 5, 2013

Well, not literally.

But I did go to this site and the name of one of the voting members of the College of Cardinals was randomly picked out for me:

The cardinal that was assigned to me is Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi from Italy. He was born on October 18th, 1942 (that date was my parent’s wedding anniversary!  (queue eerie music)).  He is the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture.

Please go to the Website to adopt a cardinal for your very own!

And as an aside, I received the following in an e-mail from CatholicVote.org:

“The Vatican has called the universal church to pray tomorrow at 5 PM Rome time, for the Cardinal-Electors who will soon select a new Pope.

That’s Wednesday, March 6th at 11 AM Eastern / 8 AM Pacific Time.

While the official start of the Conclave has not yet been announced, the Cardinals will gather tomorrow at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica for recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary, followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and then Vespers.  The Vatican has called on Catholics around the world to join them in prayer.”
